2010, Serenbe opened its first model home -- the Nest Cottage model is the most energy efficient
home built in the history of the EarthCraft green building certification program, and is serving
as a test
site for Southface and the US Department of Energy to provide solid data on next-
generation energy
efficiency and cost savings.

The Nest model was designed by Lew Oliver, built by Martin-Dodson Homes, and styled by the Serenbe
Style Studio. Anyone who purchases a Nest at Serenbe receives free interior design consultation
with the Serenbe Style Studio Team.
Sarah Susanka (center; author of the popular "Not So Big House") was delighted to visit Serenbe
and the Nest model.
On Saturday, July 10, we officially opened the Nest model cottage. Guests were treated to
live music with Sam Thacker, Farmhouse lemonade, watermelon and tours of the model.
